On May 18, 2026, Sri Lanka’s Cabinet approved a proposal to appoint an expert committee to formulate a National Space Policy. The Cabinet note says the policy is intended to formalize international cooperation, strengthen Sri Lanka’s participation in global space governance, and ensure national space activities follow international obligations, agreements, and standards.
